Robotic Drone Payload System for Reforestation

This is my Master's thesis project under the direction of Professor Lining Yao at the Morphing Matter Lab. I'm working with teammates Lennart Peus, Kush Patel, and Nick Khamseh, with expected completion in May 2026.

Over 2 million acres of land were affected by wildfires in California in 2021 alone. Reforestation is slow and costly, sometimes even physically impossible. Collaborating with the Morphing Matter Lab, our team developed a drone-based deployment system for their biodegradable seed carrier that autonomously buries itself when exposed to moisture. Our system allows for precise deployment of 50 seeds across multiple geographical environments with a modular design that enables quick restocking between flights.
